I keep blushing. It could be perimenopause-hormones, but equally I think it might be to do with a process I took part in recently, called Ongo. Indeed it very well could be both. (Imagine if our hormones were part of us! If they were playing a role in our development and growth!) Through Ongo with the support of the very generous and kind Jill I discovered a very strong need for freedom, and that somehow this is linked to blushing. Since then I’ve noticed a lot of shame coming into my consciousness and I am finding my way through it with only mild trouble or discomfort. All this is to say that today I am honouring the Goddess of Shame. Our Lady of the Berries. It’s raspberry season in the garden. The strawberries only lasted a short time and the cherries all went to the birds. All the fruits are a beautiful gift and magic. Little colourful bugs and woodlice babies inhabit the prickly canes. The colous of nearly-ripe raspberries in the setting orange sun is so intense its like honey in the eyes and bright joy in the brain… I don’t know of any established Berry Goddess but she is here, now and for that I am thankful. #100Goddesses #raspberrypicking #fruitgarden

Sekhmet, the Powerful One; Mistress of Life. Like “Sa-Ra” she is daughter of the sun-god Ra who created her to subdue the human rebellion against him. She became so uncontrollable in her destructive rage that she was given ochre-stained beer and became intoxicated, thinking it was blood. (Blood is red with the same iron oxide that gives ochre - and rust- the red colours). In this painting she is made with two yellow ochres and a purple one. Destroyer and bringer-of-pestilence, healer , protector. You definitely want her on your side. Sabrina of the Severn or Hafren, who may be a mermaid. On Saturday I took part in the Cotswold PriestXess day of Sabrina with @stroudgoddesstemple and we dedicated as Sabrina priestesses. It was an incredibly beautiful experience hard to put into words. The teachings of this long and winding river, and it’s tributary the Frome, are of flow and rhythm, integration, and riding the turbulence and challenges of chaotic forces in life. This was great nourishment as I navigated the minor violation of losing my arachnez account yesterday. A spinning eddy that threw me off course for a few hours, but the much deeper more powerful rising tide of my paintings continues. In this one I have used river water to mix the paint, (Severn and Frome waters) donated by our Sabrina teacher Nikki; Forest of Dean purple ochre from @clearwellcaves ; chalk and yellow earth collected in cyprus and the uk; charcoal found by the Severn during our ceremony on Saturday; and some red pigment to bring a warm fire as the river has her fire energy beneath the water. #100Goddesses #ridingthewave #sabrina #hafren
